It has been a full on CRAPTASTIC March so far – until today – March 15 – The Ides of March.
Tonight was a rather singular bright spot in a bleakish stretch. Tonight my Rome class marked the Ides of March 44 BCE assassination of Julius Caesar.
With cake:
What kind of cake?
Blood red cake of course! (Relax…it’s Red Velvet…with white chocolate buttercream π )
Brings a whole new twist to “Beware the Ides of March”
Cakes everywhere are quaking in their sandals.
Ooh, what a great gesture!
They seemed to dig it π
Did you? Was the cake edible?
I did…it was fun and I get to be more than the person who crabs about late homework.
The cake was awesome (I added mandarin oranges to the batter…the break up in the mixer, but they make the cake really moist.
At least one independent source can attest to the goodness of the cake!
Lucky source! π
π
Fantastic idea. Or should that be “fantastic ideS”? Saw a great picture on tumblr yesterday – a bottle of salad cream with a knife stuck in it. Took me a moment to realise that it was a Caesar salad cream… Beware…
I saw that Caesar salad one a couple weeks ago – very clever!!
So that’s why you were making buttercream? I’d have loved having you as a professor.
One of the students mentioned it a few weeks ago and since the Ides fell on class night – presto! π
Yum! Did you take that pic of Caesar from a graffito in the show? It looks familiar.
Yeah..definitely inspired by the graffiti graphics on the show. Executed in decorating gel π
Very clever and looks equally yummy! was just about to say it looks like a nice moist cake π mandarins great idea… i remember a few classes in school when i could have done with a bit of cake-inducement π lucky them and poor Cesar ( i now have Shakespeare ratting through my brain reminding me ‘he was an honourable man ;-))
