In addition to my home life, my regular teaching gig, my volunteer work (I’m looking at you VBS!) and of course, intensive devotion to Richard Armitage studies, I have another little hobby. Every so often I design and lead tour groups to Greece. We visit remnants of a storied past….
Charming mountain towns…
A plethora of seaside tavernas…for fun in the sun, or in the shade 🙂
Greece is one of my favorite places in the world, and I love bringing people there and showing them paths less traveled. My last trip was in 2011, and I think I’ve been missing Greece since I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. Then a thought occurred…what if I combined my two favorite hobbies – travel to Greece and Richard Armitage fandom?
Actually, Guylty and I were giggling about this topic via email a while back and I started to think about it again this week. So, I’ve been wondering if anyone out there in Armitageworld would have an interest in a fun filled vacation with plenty of inspiRAtion for conversation. (**I’m not in league with any travel agent or tour company and stand to gain nothing but the pleasure of your company 🙂 ) I’d think about late spring or early fall of 2014 or even 2015… Am I crazy? Wait, don’t answer that : )
Oh, you don’t know how much I would love to go SOMEWHERE beautiful and to meet fellow RA enthusiasts!! I so admire the photos I see on FB from Greece, a part of the world I never have visited yet. I don’t know if my finances/health would allow at this point, but I am definitely interested.
We’ll see what happens…there are some surprisingly affordable options and I am always praying that better health is just around the corner for you! It’s fun to day dream in anycase 🙂
Is this still in existence? I keep stumbling onto these pages but they are old so I don’t know if this universe still exists LOL but I love reading it
A splendid idea! Unfortunately, I would not be able to join you, but I wish I could.
Maybe I can drop by on my way home 🙂
Let me know when it will happen.
Greece is just around the corner. Would LOVE to meet you for a cup of coffee. Any time – I will make it possible.
Can do :). Thanks for commenting!
I would love that *intensely*. I’ve always wanted to visit Greece, and of course I love intelligent conversation. 😉 I’d just never be able to work up the scratch for it.
Never say never…who knows what a year or two might bring! Oh, and thanks for commenting! 🙂
Keep me on your list! I would love to go to Greece, and being in the company of RA lovers, even better! I went to Istanbul this past September with about 100 friends I’d met online who are readers of the Scottish author Dorothy Dunnett, and it was a FABULOUS experience! Keep thinking!
I’ve got a ton of ideas…even for a small group – private house, home cooking and dining out. Relaxed itinerary. There are a lot of directions to consider.
That sounds positively dreamy.
Definitely! A smaller group is more manageable. The Istanbul trip was put together by a group of very dedicated people. A LOT of work!! You don’t need to do anything like that. A private house is interesting. I like doing that sometimes when I’m going somewhere that there’s lots to do in the area. Fun!
Since Greece has put in a lot of new roads, it’s really easy to day trip while basing in one location…less packing and moving is nice. Possibilities, possibilities…
What a great idea. Since you have done this before you know all the great places to see. I have always liked the idea of travel and only gotten to go once, that was a great trip to England . I stayed with my BF and her family, they took me to great places and I got to see things you don’t get to see on a tour. I was also 6 and 1/2 months pregnant with son2, for the longest time he told people he was born in England.
Keep me in mind and we will see where I am in life as with school and work. I will have to quit work one of these years to finish my schooling, but not sure what is what yet. There is also a kitchen that some year will have to redone too.
Yeah, I really like going to places you wouldn’t ordinarily see on a tour. I will keep you in the loop 🙂
[…] Would you be interested in a Richard Armitage-fan friends vacation? […]
I love this idea, and if I know far enough in advance I can start saving up the $$. Have passport and otherwise ready to go!! Let’s see if we can get him to join us!! 😀 😀 😀 While we’re thinking big. 😉
Oh totally. 😀 I’ll work up some provisional numbers to give people a ballpark idea of cost. I’m practically wriggling in anticipation…I’m sure that will be a big incentive to the proposed guest of honor!
lol I wonder if he would be horrified or charmed by the idea. Perhaps if we all act erudite and wholesome… I would try very, very hard. I promise. :}
This would probably involve me not talking for long periods of time. SNORT Must buy duct tape.
😀 Duct tape comes in all sorts of great colors and prints now…maybe we could start a new fashion trend!
lol I’m sure we’d all need some, at one time or another. 😉
I would love to. Has been a while since I’ve really traveled beyond my borders. Depends on my financial situation at any given time of course 🙂 the RA connections would be lovely
Welcome – thanks for commenting! I know what you mean, I’ve been somewhat grounded lately too!
I think that sounds great. I could leave my husband at home if it is an all girl trip, Richard worship is not his thing, just mine. (I guess that’s a good thing.) I have never been to Greece and would love to see it with an expert. I can swing it financially, have time, and love to travel. I am going to Maui in Sept. with some hula sisters and that is only trip I have scheduled. Count me in.
Welcome! Awesome – I don’t know about expert, but seasoned veteran for sure. There are definite Greece must do’s, but there are also a whole lot of “ahhh” moments that slaves to itinerary miss. I’ll definitely keep looking at it since there’s some interest. I’ll keep you posted. PS, I’m definitely leaving my husband at home for this one 🙂
Sounds like a plan, husband will stay home. Hope it comes together. It’s fun to imagine a bunch of RA fans getting to know each other in RL.I am sure we are all fascinating and extremely fun to hang out with. And of course we all have excellent taste.
Precisely!
Awesome idea ! 😀
Thanks! I think it would be tons of fun!
gosh, this sounds great! I’d love to be able to go )
I will keep you in the loop 🙂
Have passport and haven’t been to Greece yet, but depends time of year due to work. Definitely interested.
Any times that are definitely out for you?
Yes, EoFY ie. June, July & August
That sounds wonderful! I wish I had the $$$! I haven’t been abroad in so long my passport has expired!
I actually have to check mine…I can’t remember the expiration date! Now, where I stashed it when I got home two years ago is another story 🙂
OMG OMG OMG, I have missed a seminal post here in my absence. Arrrrrrrrgh. Consider me booked on this trip. As you know, I would absolutely love it. A group of interesting women, bound together by a shared interest. I still think we should also book a room for Richard, just provisionally. *coughs*
I thought you might be interested! A room for Richard might prove interesting in a private house rental! Whoever gets the master will have to make room for Richard ;). (A nuisance, I know )
I am pretty easy when it comes to sleeping arrangements. I don’t mind sharing the room. Heck, I’ll even make space in the bed. *shrugs* 😛
You are such a giver!
*chuckles* Honestly, The mutual politeness would be stiflingly embarrassing…
Mmmhmmm, after about 30 seconds, I’d be on a lounge chair by the pool with my blankie… “No really – You can have the room – I *prefer* to sleep outside!” 😀
Sent from my iPad
Yeah. Mind you – no hardship in Greece.
Not really 🙂
Hello Obscura, excuse me for lurking too long without a comment! I’d love to do this trip with you and our fellow RA admirers. What better, more charming and intelligent company could I wish for? And who better to sympathise with my belief that RA is Dionysus personified?
There’s a chance I might be relocating from Australia to the UK this year. The destination would be a town just south of Gatwick airport, from whence Easyjet offers blissfully cheap flights to all over Europe! I do hope it happens!
No apologies necessary! Glad to hear from you, and I’ll definitely keep you updated on progress…good luck with the potential move – that’s a big one! I dread the prospect of moving cross town, much less the workd 🙂
I’ve always wanted to go to Greece but haven’t made it there yet. I’m going to the UK again this year, this time to Oxford.
That sounds great too…I’ve only ever been “through” the UK on flight layovers. I’ll keep you in the Greece loop 🙂
[…] of you may remember that way back, I’d wondered if anyone might be interested in coming along if I were to arrange a tour to Greece. Well, TWO […]
